On 2 August 2019, Ken Okoth's family was stopped by the court from burying or cremating him, following a lawsuit by Ann Muthoni, who claimed she had been excluded from his burial plans despite being the mother of his son.

BBC reporter Larry Madowo has confessed that he cannot fathom the pain Monicah is going through, as he recalled a conversation he had with Ken Okoth a few weeks prior to his death.

According to Madowo, Ken Okoth had told him, 'When I am down Monica lifts me up. When she is down I lift her up.'

Ken Okoth's wife, Monicah, also shared a touching message during the memorial service held at Moi Girls, reminiscing on the good times they had together.

She said, 'Being Ken's wife was the greatest honour of my life. He was the most intelligent, passionate, eloquent and most wonderful person I have ever met.'

The court order has put Monicah's pain and loss in the spotlight, as the family struggles to come to terms with Ken Okoth's passing.
