President Uhuru Kenyatta's silence has been misinterpreted as cowardice by some, but he has now fired back in a strong statement during an Akorino church meeting at Nyayo Stadium on August 2, 2019.
Speaking in his native Kikuyu language, Uhuru told Ruto and his supporters that they have been taking his silence for weakness, but he will not be intimidated.
"These people have been taking my silence for cowardice," he said. "I will speak in Kikuyu and they will take me nowhere."
Uhuru also reminded Ruto and his supporters that he is not their puppet and that they will not become powerful by shouting and making headlines.
"They keep shouting how they will be powerful, but I am here to remind them that I am not their Kihii and they won't become anything," he said.
Uhuru also emphasized that he will continue to direct the country according to his roadmap and that he will not be swayed by Ruto's threats.
"The road map I have made for my people I will still direct them, I will be going where these people have been going without any fear if they think I fear them," he said.
Uhuru's statement comes after Ruto and his supporters have been making headlines and claiming that they will become powerful.
Uhuru's message to Ruto and his supporters is clear: he will not be intimidated and he will continue to lead the country according to his vision.
