On July 25, just before his death, Kibra MP Ken Okoth was reportedly involved in a romantic relationship with a woman named Anne Muthoni Thumbi, also known as Anitah.
Anitah, a nominated member of the Nairobi County Assembly, made headlines on August 1 after she appeared in court and obtained an order to stop the burial of Okoth.
Through her affidavit, Anitah claimed to be the mother of Okoth's five-year-old son and sought to be recognized by the late MP's family.
However, despite her claims, Anitah was not recognized by Okoth's family or Governor Mike Sonko, who was the only one to acknowledge her relationship with the late MP.
Anitah, 31, had previously worked as a nurse at the Aga Khan Hospital and had also studied nursing.
She left her nursing career after being elected as a nominated member of the Nairobi County Assembly in 2017.
As a nominated member, Anitah serves on various committees, including health, electricity, communication and technology, community service, and the county assembly's legal affairs committee.
Ken Okoth has a child with a woman named Okoth, Mike Sonko claims.
