On August 2, 2019, police in Eldoret launched a raid on a palatial house in Elgon View Estate, belonging to Peter Sitati, a politician who vied for the Webuye West parliamentary seat in the 2017 General Election.
The raid was prompted by a complaint filed by a woman who claimed to have been defrauded of Sh600,000 by Sitati.
During the operation, police arrested the caretaker of the house and are now searching for Sitati and his female accomplice.
According to police, the house was found to contain fake local and foreign currency worth more than Sh100 million.
