'Kenya's Top Gold Diggers' List Sparks Outrage ¶
Published on August 2, 2019, a local newspaper published a list of 'Kenya's Top Gold Diggers,' sparking outrage and amusement among Kenyan celebrities.
The list, which included high-profile names such as Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa, socialite Vera Sidika, and nominated Senator Millicent Omanga, among others, has been spreading like wildfire on social media.
Former Presidential Candidate Nazlin Umar, who was ranked number 10, took to Facebook to react to the list, laughing it off and taking a dig at Aden Duale.
"Hahahahahhaa. Oh my gawwd!!! Ghaaaai fafa!! Hahahahahaha. These idle platifuls. Wangeniweka tu no. 1 basi. #Kmnnzao. Lolest. #Listoffame? U can use any names, but you will vote for ME 2022. Which gutter press is this? Who has a clear pic? And why mention #Chatur only?? Why not Aden Duale Aden Duale Aden Duale Aden Duale saga? I smell a rat. Uki wachwa wachika," she wrote.
Nairobi governor Mike Sonko also weighed in on the list, saying, "Hii magutter press ziko na maneno jameni. Ati Kenya’s top slay queens and Gold diggers."
Vera Sidika, who was ranked second on the list, wondered why she didn't take the top spot, writing in her Insta stories, "It’s so funny, but if y’all gotta put me on any list. Make sure I take the no.1 spot."
