On Wednesday night, a shocking incident occurred in Senyende village, Kakamega East, where a man attacked and killed his father following a disagreement over food.
According to reports, 39-year-old Musa Luvowa used a hoe to kill his 80-year-old father, Jame Mulama, after a heated argument over a plate of ugali and some roasted maize.
The suspect's brother, Abraham Walukha, revealed that he found his father lying in a pool of blood with a gaping wound on the head when he arrived home.
Walukha also alleged that his brother had been engaging in suspicious activities, including stealing items from their neighbours.
Earlier this year, the suspect had dug a grave in the family compound and threatened to bury his father after a disagreement over an undisclosed issue, neighbours claimed.
Shinyalu District Officer Mofat Moseti stated that the suspect fled the scene after his father collapsed and died.
Sub-county police commander Robert Makau vowed to bring the suspect to justice, saying, 'We are doing everything to bring the suspect to book because of the heinous act he has committed.'
Mr. Moseti visited the scene and coordinated the transportation of the body to the County General and Referral Hospital mortuary.
