On Wednesday, fishermen retrieved the body of Mary Aoko Odhiambo from Lake Victoria, a tragic incident that has left the community in shock.
According to Ramogi Sub-Location Chief Gordon Opundo, the deceased woman had been restless the previous evening after losing the money, a sum of Sh50,000 belonging to the church.
She left her house at around midnight without telling her husband where she was going, sparking a desperate search by members of the public.
Her phone and clothes were recovered at Wath-K'opondo beach, and her body was found stuck in a fishing net a few meters from the lakeshore.
The body was moved to Bondo Sub-County hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem as investigations continue.
