Garissa Senator Mohamed Yusuf Haji, a key figure in the Building Bridges Initiative, has found himself at the centre of controversy after a video emerged of him firing a gun in the air for fun at an event.
The video, which has been widely shared on social media, shows Senator Haji engaging in irresponsible behaviour, allegedly flouting basic rules of firearm ownership.
As seen in the video, the crowd appears to be scared and officers are seen pushing them back. The incident has sparked calls for action against Senator Haji.
Kenya Alerts (@kenyanspider) took to Twitter to express their concern, stating, 'I do believe discharging a weapon in a public place is an offence. This person's firearm license needs to be revoked. Irresponsible behaviour as this should not be condoned in any manner.'
Others have also weighed in on the issue, with Cate Mwaniki (@cate_mwaniki) tweeting, 'Then at the background u see the officers pushing the scared crowd…. take action @FredMatiangi @DCI_Kenya arrest this guy.'
