On August 2, 2019, the developers behind the popular third-party client GBWhatsApp announced that they had completely stopped the development of the app.

According to a message posted on the official GBWhatsApp channel, the developers expressed their gratitude to users and apologized for any inconvenience caused.

GBWhatsApp was a popular WhatsApp mod that offered additional features not available on the official WhatsApp app, including theme customization, hiding online status, and downloading stories.

However, the app's developers faced pressure from WhatsApp, which has been cracking down on third-party mods. In June 2019, WhatsApp threatened a lifetime ban to GBWhatsApp and WhatsApp Plus users.

With GBWhatsApp shutting down, it is likely that other popular mods will follow suit, as the developers may face increased scrutiny from WhatsApp.
