On August 1, 2019, a Nairobi court intervened in a contentious matter surrounding the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth's burial, halting the proceedings at the request of his alleged second wife, Anne Thumbi.
Thumbi, a nominated ward representative in Nairobi, sought to have her five-year-old child recognized as Okoth's biological son, leading to a court order temporarily barring Okoth's mother, Angeline Okoth, and his wife, Monica Okoth, from conducting his burial or cremation.
The court's decision was made in response to Thumbi's petition, which aimed to establish her child's paternity to Okra's biological son.
