August 1, 2019, marked a significant milestone for Nova Pioneer, a Pan-African network of schools, as it announced plans to expand its operations to Mombasa. The move is part of the organization's ambitious plan to establish at least 10 primary and secondary schools in Kenya by 2022.
According to Christopher Khaemba, co-founder and former Alliance High School principal, the focus will shift to Mombasa after completing the construction of two secondary schools in Eldoret at a cost of Sh1.5 billion. The institutions, separate boys and girls schools, are expected to be ready by January 2020.
Each school will offer the Kenyan curriculum based on world-class education, with a focus on innovative approaches to prepare learners to be 21st-century innovators and leaders. The facilities will include modern classrooms set-up with technology that enhances learning, boarding facilities as well as grounds for sports and club's activities.
Speaking during an interview, Danae Pauli, Nova Pioneer East Africa managing director, emphasized the need for world-class education to compete in today's world. 'We are a Pan-African network because we believe that change that will make a difference in the continent goes beyond a single school,' she said.
Ms. Pauli added that by connecting students across their network and the world beyond through their international standard education adopting the Kenyan curriculum, they will make the necessary difference in their students' lives.
