Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko made headlines on Thursday at the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth's funeral service, where he revealed the details of Okoth's secret affair with Ann Thumbi.
According to Sonko, Okoth met Thumbi in 2013 during a medical camp in Kibra Constituency, where Sonko's rescue team was conducting outreach services.
"There were beautiful nurses of Sonko rescue team, and because Ken was my friend… Ken fell in love with a nurse in the Sonko rescue Team called Anita and they used to go out," Sonko stated.
However, Sonko clarified that Okoth's alleged child with Thumbi was not a result of a romantic relationship, but rather a Mpango Wa Kando arrangement.
"In the 2017 politics, Ken told me to nominate his wife Ann Thumbi to the county Assembly, so where Ken is… he is not at peace because his child is suffering even before he is laid to rest," Sonko stated.
Thumbi had obtained a court order to stop Okoth's cremation, citing that she had been sidelined in the funeral plans and that the family's decision to cremate the body would amount to erasing all evidence that her son was related to Okoth.
