A Nairobi court has intervened in the burial plans of late Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth, following a court case filed by Nairobi MCA Anne Muthoni Thumbi on behalf of a minor.
Ms. Thumbi, who claims the minor is a biological son of the late legislator, moved to court to prevent the family from cremating or burying the body, allegedly to destroy any evidence of the minor's lineage.
According to court documents, the mother and wife of the late MP, Angeline Okoth and Monica Okoth, respectively, had planned to cremate the body without involving the minor in the funeral arrangements.
Ms. Thumbi stated in court that: 'The mother and the wife (of the deceased) have deliberately and unfortunately opted to exclude me from the funeral and burial arrangements of Okoth.'
The court has issued a temporary injunction, restraining the family from conducting the burial, interment, cremation, or disposing of the body pending the hearing and determination of the case.
The case is set to be heard on August 9, 2019, before Senior Principal Magistrate Hon. Obura.
