Ken Okoth's Burial Plans Halted by Alleged Lover's Court Order

A Nairobi court has stopped the burial of late Kibra MP Ken Okoth after a woman claiming to be his lover obtained a restraining order on August 1, 2019.

According to reports, the woman, identified as Anne Muthoni, a nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) in Nairobi County, claimed to have a child with the late MP and demanded to be included in his obituary.

Muthoni, through her lawyer, also sought to have her five-year-old son recognized as the MP's biological son.

Senior Principal Magistrate GA Mmasi certified the application as urgent and issued a temporary injunction restraining Angeline Okoth (mother) and Monica Okoth (wife) from conducting the burial, interment, cremation, or disposing of the late MP's body pending the hearing and determination of the instant application.

The case will be heard on August 9, 2019.

During a memorial mass held at Moi Girls' High School in Kibera on August 1, Governor Mike Sonko stunned mourners with claims that Ken Okoth had asked him to nominate his 'other wife' to the county assembly.

The governor further revealed that Muthoni was part of the Sonko Rescue Team until she ventured into county politics following the MP's request.
