On August 1, 2019, a tragic incident occurred in a small community near Lake Victoria, where a 67-year-old woman, Mary Aoko Odhiambo, allegedly took her own life after misplacing Ksh. 50,000 belonging to the church.
According to Ramogi Sub-Location Chief Gordon Opundo, the deceased had been restless the previous evening and left her husband at midnight without saying where she was going.
Her body was later retrieved from the lake by fishermen, and her phone and clothes were found at Wath-K'opondo beach, where residents believe she jumped into the lake.
The body has since been moved to Bondo Sub-County hospital mortuary, awaiting postmortem as investigations begin.
