Teenage Girl Strangled to Death by 24-Year-Old Uncle in Subukia

On Wednesday, August 31, 2019, a 17-year-old Form Two student at Paul Keriko Mixed Secondary School, Mary Wanjiru, was brutally murdered in Weseges Location, Subukia Sub-county.

According to police reports, Wanjiru was trailed by her 24-year-old uncle as she walked home from school and was subsequently strangled.

Subukia Sub-County Police Commander Samuel Imbwaga confirmed that the suspect, a casual labourer, was arrested at his house after he confessed to the crime.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to having committed the crime, as confirmed by Mr Imbwaga.

Wanjiru's mother, Grace Njoki, reported that she had left her daughter at home at around 2pm on the day of the incident.

It is alleged that the suspect, who is an uncle to Wanjiru, had been stalking her before committing the heinous crime.
