On August 1, 2019, the Western region champions Ebwali secured their spot in the semifinals of the 2019 KSSA national championships, thanks to the poor performance of their opponents, Mbooni Boys, who lost 2-0 to host Kisumu Day and Boarding.

With this result, Ebwali qualified on four points, while Dagoretti Boys, who lost 3-0 to Ebwali in their final Pool B match, also made it to the semifinals.

St Anthony Kitale beat Central region champions Olbolsat, while Shimba Hills trounced North Eastern kings Banisa 6-0, ending their National games expedition with their only scalp of the competition.

According to Ebwali head coach Francis Muhambe, the team's heavy defeat was due to errors by his players, but he expressed confidence that they will right the wrongs and overcome their opponents in the semifinals.

"Our objective was to qualify for the semifinals, and I'm happy we have achieved that. Now that we have confirmed our qualification, we have to plan on how to overcome our opponents in the semifinals," he said.

He also warned that they will play in the final to win it, promising a tough match against St Anthony Kitale in the semifinals.
