Ken Okoth, the 41-year-old Kibra Member of Parliament who succumbed to stage four colorectal cancer on Friday last week, had reportedly expressed his wish to be cremated upon his death.

According to The Star, Okoth verbally informed his wife, Monica, and his younger brother of his desire to be cremated. However, his ailing mother, Angeline Ajwang', has other plans.

Ms. Ajwang' wants her son to be buried at her home in Kasawe, Homa Bay County, where she can see his grave every day. In an interview with K24, she stated, 'I am of the opinion that he be buried at Kabondo Kasipul in Homa Bay County, where I wake up and see his grave every day.'

Okoth's paternal family, on the other hand, wants him buried at his father's ancestral land in Kochia, Homa Bay County. This is despite the fact that Okoth's father, Nicholas Obonyo, separated from Ms. Angeline in the 1980s, when Okoth was barely a teenager.

Okoth was brought up by his mother in Kibera slums, Nairobi, following her separation with Mr. Obonyo.
