Starehe Boys Centre and School held a memorial service for the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth on July 31, 2019. The event was attended by Ken's wife, Monica Lavender Okoth, his family, friends, and government officials, including Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju and former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth.

Monica Lavender Okoth delivered a moving tribute to her husband, describing him as a determined and resilient man who was bound by no boundaries. She shared stories of their life together, including how Ken had introduced her to Starehe Boys Centre when they first met in 2004, and how he had always been passionate about education.

Monica Lavender Okoth also spoke about Ken's determination to pursue a career in politics, despite being told it was a waste of time. She said that Ken's spirit and determination had inspired her throughout their life together, and that he had never given up, even when faced with illness.

Ken Okoth passed away on July 26, 2019, at the Nairobi Hospital after a long battle with colorectal cancer. He was 41 years old.
