On the occasion of the memorial service for the late Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso, Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu made a heartfelt appeal to the incoming Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok. Ngilu urged Barchok to consider picking a female deputy governor who would help continue Laboso's legacy.

Laboso, Ngilu, and Anne Waiguru were among the pioneering female governors in Kenya. Ngilu and Waiguru have fondly remembered Laboso as a powerful, calm leader who was always full of wisdom.

Waiguru shared a touching anecdote about Laboso's calming influence, saying, 'She would calm us down and tell us to rise above the social media trolls and focus on the bigger picture of serving the people.'
