Published on August 1, 2019, a viral video has sparked outrage after it captured a woman giving birth on the cold corridors of Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital in Nairobi.
The video, shared on a closed Facebook group, shows the woman lying on the floor with her baby, whose placenta is still attached, wrapped in a shuka.
According to the user who shared the video, Rina Rina, the incident occurred on Sunday night. She narrated how she and a friend encountered the mother in distress and stepped in to help her deliver the baby safely.
However, Rina Rina also claimed that the hospital staff were rude and indifferent to their pleas for assistance, further exacerbating the situation.
This incident is not the first time Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital has faced criticism for poor service delivery and unprofessional staff behavior.
