The Ministry of Education is set to host the 93rd edition of the Annual National Music Festival at Kabarak University in Nakuru County from August 3rd to 15th, 2019.
Organizers expect over 150,000 participants from across the country to showcase their musical talents in various genres, including set pieces, folk songs, dances, and oriental music.
According to the Kenya Music Festival chairman, Peter Wanjohi, performing arts develop character and intellect, while reinforcing self-confidence in learners.
The festival's theme, 'Enhancing National Unity, Cohesion, and Integration through Kenya Music Festival,' has been retained this year as it remains relevant to the country's socioeconomic aspirations.
Executive Secretary Ruth Agesa emphasized the importance of music in education, saying it fosters nationalism, patriotism, and promotes national unity.
The festival will feature a variety of musical performances, including special compositions, African adaptations, elocution in multiple languages, and African and Western instrumental music.
UNICEF, the Communication Authority of Kenya, and the Kenya Commercial Bank are among the organizations supporting the festival through various initiatives, including songs on child protection and youth empowerment.
Ms. Agesa extended an invitation to Kenyans and residents of Nakuru County and its immediate neighborhood to attend and experience the diverse display of talent and culture.
