On August 1, 2019, Moscow police announced the arrest of a suspect in the high-profile murder of a Russian Instagram influencer, according to a statement released by the Russian Ministry of Interior (MVD).
As reported by Irina Volk, the official spokesperson for the MVD, the suspect was apprehended in an apartment on Pyryeva Street, where the victim's body was discovered in a suitcase.
According to the Investigative Committee, the body of the woman, identified as Yekaterina Semochkina, was found with stab and cut wounds in the chest area.
Semochkina, who used the online pseudonym Yekaterina Karaglanova and had 92,000 followers on Instagram, was a dermatologist who frequently traveled and shared her experiences on social media.
Her final post on Instagram featured a photo of her holding a glass of wine and posing poolside, with the caption 'Hi, Moscow! That was the end of our short, but very fun trip to Corfu.'
