On August 1, 2019, a requiem mass for the late Bomet Governor Dr. Joyce Laboso was underway at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi, before the body was transferred to Bomet for an overnight vigil.
Dr. Laboso, aged 58, had passed away at the Nairobi Hospital after battling cancer. She had been admitted to the hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for two weeks upon her arrival from India, where she had gone to receive further treatment.
According to Luo tradition, the body will be moved to its final resting place in Koru, where Dr. Laboso was officially married, rather than her birthplace and county of Bomet.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at the Bomet Green Stadium, followed by a requiem mass in honour of Dr. Laboso on Saturday at the same venue. The body will then be moved to Koru for burial on Saturday, August 3, 2019.
