The Intercontinental Olympic Qualifiers kicked off on Friday with Kenya's national women's volleyball team, Malkia Strikers, facing a daunting task to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Coached by Shailen Ramdoo, the team will compete against hosts Italy, Netherlands, and Belgium in Pool F of the Intercontinental Olympic qualifiers in Italy.
According to Coach Ramdoo, who took over in May 2018, the team will use the Intercontinental Qualifiers and the African Games in Rabat to strengthen their squad ahead of the Olympics.
As reported earlier, Malkia Strikers finished second at the Africa Cup of Nations after losing to Cameroon 3-2 in the final last month.
Coach Ramdoo's main target is to help the country return to the Olympics after an absence of over a decade, with Malkia Strikers last featuring at the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004.
