Grammy-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar has been in a relationship with his high school sweetheart Whitney Alford for over 14 years. The couple, who have been together since they were teenagers, have now welcomed a baby girl.
According to Us Weekly, the couple did not publicly announce the pregnancy or the birth of their child. However, in a 2015 interview with Billboard, Kendrick spoke about his relationship with Whitney, saying 'I wouldn’t even call her my girl. That’s my best friend. I don’t even like the term that society has put in the world as far as being a companion -she’s somebody I can tell my fears to.'
Whitney, a makeup artist, has been a constant presence in Kendrick's life, and the rapper has often spoken about the importance of having real people around him. In a 2015 interview with Power 105.1’s Breakfast Club, Kendrick confirmed that he was engaged to Whitney, saying 'Yeah, yeah, definitely… I’m loyal to the soil.'
Kendrick was born in Compton, California and released his first mixtape at the age of 16. He has since then released four studio albums: Section 80 (in 2011), Good Kid, M.A.A.D City (in 2012), To Pimp A Butterfly (in 2015) and Damn (in 2017). He has won 13 Grammy Awards and a Pulitzer Prize in the music category for his album Damn in 2018.
