Kenya's Harambee Stars midfielder Whyvonne Isuza is eager to make up for lost time ahead of Sunday's 2020 Africa Nations Championship (Chan) qualifier against Tanzania.
Isuza, who missed out on the squad that competed in the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, is expected to feature prominently for the Stars developmental side against rivals Taifa Stars at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani.
Coach Sebastien Migne's team needs to mastermind a win if they are to advance to the next phase of the qualification campaign, with Tanzania looking to eliminate Kenya with a scoring draw or force the match into post-match penalties with a barren stalemate.
"I have to admit it was really tough when I missed out on the squad that competed in Egypt," Isuza told Nation Sport. "Now we have another chance to qualify for a major tournament and play in Cameroon. I believe we are in a good position and playing at home against Tanzania will offer us some kind of advantage."
Isuza will be joined by other key players including goalkeeper John Oyemba, defenders Philemon Otieno and Joash Onyango, midfielder Kenneth Muguna, and Pistone Mutamba.
Also set to make his international debut is Tusker's speedy winger Boniface Muchiri, who has been impressive in the Kenyan Premier League last season.
Meanwhile, Taifa Stars, now managed by Burundian coach Etienne Ndayiragije, are expected in the country on Friday, seeking to exact revenge on Kenya after losing 3-2 to the same opposition during the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Ndayiragije has branded this assignment 'mission possible', as the two teams clash in the Chan qualifier.
