On August 1, 2019, Erdemann Property's Sales and Marketing Manager Michael Olanya attributed the delay in processing titles for the company's Great-Wall Gardens Estates project in Nairobi to new requirements at the Lands Ministry.
According to Olanya, the digital registration of titles at the ministry has been problematic, resulting in some titles having to be reapplied to meet the new digital technology requirements.
Despite the challenges, Olanya assured clients that 50 land title deeds had already been registered, and the rest would be completed within three months.
Properties manager Victor Odera urged homeowners to be patient, warning them not to follow up the matter with the firm and instead contact the developer or its lawyers directly.
On May 3, the residents wrote to the developer and their lawyers expressing concerns over the delay in processing subleases, which they feared could expose homeowners to risks of penalties and deny them the benefit of realizing their investments.
