On August 1, 2019, a heated exchange took place in the county assembly after a nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) was thrown out for wearing inappropriate attire.

Salome Muthoni, the MCA in question, was wearing denim pants and a jumper when she rose to contribute to a Motion.

Deputy Speaker Zackary Ndung'u intervened, labeling Muthoni a stranger due to her unseemly apparel.

According to reports, Githioro MCA Sambingi Mukuria initiated the censure when Muthoni rose on a point of order, questioning the House's dressing guides and whether her attire was appropriate.

The House ultimately ruled that the clothing was unacceptable and asked Muthoni to step out, which she did hastily as her colleagues applauded.
