Indian Teams Dominate Mombasa Hockey Clubs

On August 1, 2019, India's Sports Association of India (SAI) made a strong statement in the hockey world by defeating Mombasa's top clubs in two friendly matches at Mombasa Sports Club.

The Indian ladies side thrashed Mombasa Sports Club 6-0, with Nanisha Chauhan scoring a hat-trick in the 4th, 43rd, and 58th minutes. Latla Naru added two goals in the 34th and 50th minutes, while Sujata Kujur scored the sixth goal in the 15th minute.

The men's side also impressed, beating Mombasa junior side 3-0. Sachin scored the first goal in the 4th minute, followed by Manish Shahani and Razat Minz in the 9th and 13th minutes respectively.

The two sides will clash again in their last matches today at the same venue.

The Indian teams had previously participated in the Nairobi Simba open hockey tournament, where their ladies team emerged victorious after beating African ladies champions Telkom Kenya 1-0 in the finals.
