On July 31st, 2019, Nairobi's DusitD2 Hotel reopened its doors to the public, six months after a devastating terror attack that claimed 21 lives and left many others injured.
The high-end hotel, located on Riverside Drive in Westlands, Nairobi, was closed for renovations following the January 15th attack by Somalia-based Islamic terrorist group, Al-Shabaab.
During the closure, the hotel's management took the opportunity to train its staff in customer service and enhance security measures to ensure the safety of its guests.
The hotel chain, owned by the Thai conglomerate, Dusit Hotels and Resorts, also honored the memory of its six employees who lost their lives in the attack.
The reopening ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Cabinet Secretaries Najib Balala (Tourism), Amina Mohamed (Sports), and Raychelle Omamo (Defense).
