On July 31, 2019, detectives in Nakuru made a significant arrest in their ongoing efforts to combat terrorism. A 46-year-old terror suspect was apprehended in Nakuru town, sparking a flurry of investigations.
Confirming the arrest, DCI Mr. David Wangai revealed that the suspect, whose name has been withheld, was caught photographing the Nakuru law courts. The suspect's intentions behind taking the photos remain unclear, prompting an investigation into his activities.
According to Mr. Wangai, the suspect is of Somali origin and is being investigated further to determine the reasons behind his actions. The suspect is currently being held and is expected to be handed over to the Anti-terrorism police unit (ATPU) in Eldoret for further interrogations.
This arrest comes on the heels of a similar incident in Narok, where a middle-aged man was arrested on terror watch hours before the Madaraka Day fete. The suspect, who had been in Somalia for over two years, was arrested as he attempted to sneak into the stadium and two identification cards were recovered from him.
