Kenyan musician and footballer Ali Kiba has been released from Coastal Union football team. The decision was made on July 30, 2019, along with his teammate Athuman Idd, also known as Chuji.

According to the team's registrar, Hemed Aurora, Ali Kiba and Chuji were not involved in the team's matches for the upcoming season.

Coastal Union's team manager, Steven Mnguto, explained that the team's schedule conflicted with Ali Kiba's music career. He stated, "We had to let him go because his music career was taking priority over the team's needs."

Regarding Chuji, Mnguto said that his age was a factor in the decision. He stated, "Chuji's age was a concern, and we decided to give younger players a chance to develop."

Ali Kiba was a key player for Coastal Union in the previous season, and his release has been met with surprise from fans and the media.
