500 Telkom Workers Sacked Following Merger with Airtel ¶

Telecommunication companies Telkom and Airtel have merged, a move that has left over 500 workers at Telkom worried about their jobs.
According to sources, the two companies have signed a merger deal, which will see them operate as one entity.
As a result, Telkom has issued a notice to its employees, informing them that they will be losing their jobs due to the merger.
"We have informed our employees about the merger and the impact it will have on their jobs," said Telkom CEO Mugo Kibati.
However, Kibati assured that the company will follow the necessary procedures to ensure that the affected employees are treated fairly.
"We will follow the law and ensure that the affected employees are given a fair notice and compensation," he said.
It is worth noting that the merger is expected to create new job opportunities for some employees, as the company will be looking to fill new positions.
"If the merger is successful, some of the employees who have lost their jobs will be re-employed," Kibati said.
