On the second day of the Term Two national school games in Kisumu, North Eastern champions Boys Town made a statement by thrashing Machakos Boys 6-1, securing their spot in the football Under-16 semi-finals.
This victory marked their second win in as many matches, with their quest for the title also serving as a qualifier for the Copa Coca-cola Africa tournament.
Isse Mohammed and Abdullahi Hussein both scored a brace, while Abdi Hassan and Adbdi Musa added one goal each, showcasing North Eastern's determination to challenge Western and Nyanza regions, who have traditionally dominated football.
Head coach Rodgers Wekesa expressed his team's readiness to win the title, which he believes will change the football narrative in the region.
“Many have always said North Eastern teams are pushovers in this championship but I want to warn them that we will make it tough. I attribute our good form to good structures in the school and support from the administration,” he said.
Boys Town will learn their last four opponents after the preliminary matches conclude tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Nairobi-based Dagoretti Under-16 team also advanced to the semi-finals with a 2-0 win against Agoro Sare.
Hezekiah Omuri and Jesse Okoth scored for Dagoretti, while head coach Magonga praised his team's achievement and shifted focus to the semi-finals.
“We are ready for the task because any team in this stage is capable of winning the title. We are motivated because the Under-19 is also doing very well in the other side,” he stated.
Elsewhere, Kwanthanze Volleyball team inched closer to retaining their national title with a straight win against St.Johns Kaloleni.
