The Kenya Revenue Authority announced plans to destroy unclaimed motor vehicles and assorted goods stored at Eldoret International Airport, citing failure by importers to claim items within 30 days.
A Kenya Gazette notice stated that unidentified traders who imported restricted products, including sex toys, pharmaceuticals, and adult materials, had until April 17, 2019, to settle outstanding duties and reclaim their cargo. Otherwise, the items would be crushed as abandoned property.
Customs officials in the Rift Valley region disclosed holding 6,000 Vigrx Plus tablets, 35 Viagra (50mg) units, nine Cialis 20mg pills, Magic Chocolate Vimax, pornographic materials, artificial male organs, vibrators, and arousal cream. These goods were reportedly destined for Nakuru, Kenya’s fourth-largest city.
The notice specifically mentioned a Ugandan-registered Toyota Carina saloon linked to a Nakuru County MP, which lacked proof of duty payment for road use in Kenya. Officials also reported 69 vehicles detained at police stations with falsified registration numbers.
KRA emphasized that failure to act would result in permanent loss of the goods, with the destruction scheduled for April 17, 2019, following the 30-day claim period.
