Prophet Cosmos Affran, leader of the Cosmos Walker Affran Ministries, claimed to have received a divine warning about the Ethiopian Airlines crash in February 2019. His Facebook post urged Ethiopia to "pray" for an impending disaster, which later coincided with the March 10, 2019, crash near Nairobi that killed all 157 passengers and crew.
The Boeing 737-800, en route from Addis Ababa to Nairobi, crashed six minutes after takeoff at 08:44 local time. Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed expressed condolences on social media, stating the government's deepest sympathies for the victims.
Affran's prediction resurfaced after the tragedy, with his February 7, 2019, post reading: "Plane crash 'Ethiopian' world should pray. 'Thou saith the Lord.' Prophecy by Prophet Cosmos Walker Affran." This follows his 2018 prophecy about Ghanaian artist Shatta Wale, which led to threats against churches.
The crash also claimed the life of Nigerian professor Pius Adesanmi, who was traveling on the flight. No survivors were reported from the accident, which occurred just hours after another plane crash in the region.
