On July 31, 2019, National football team head coach Sebastian Migne expressed confidence in his team's ability to secure a win at home in the second leg of the 2020 Africa Nations Championship qualifier against Tanzania.
The team had managed to keep a clean sheet after a barren draw against the Taifa Stars at the weekend in Dar es Salaam, and Migne was determined to complete the job in the rematch.
He had also beefed up his squad by summoning the fresh legs of Boniface Muchiri of Tusker and Kevin Omondi from SoNy Sugar to silence the Tanzanians.
"I want to stay focused for the Tanzanian return game, it is more important for now, Togo(a 2022 World Cup qualifier match)will be more crucial and special but for now it is step by step," said Migne.
At a recent training session, the team practised on set pieces following a poor return from dead-ball situations in the first leg.
"We were not so bad and we will try to develop better link-up play offensively; that’s the reason I called up new two offensive players to develop good offensive football," said Migne.
The Frenchman said improving on runs would scale their game and give them an upper hand over their opponents.
The squad that faced Tanzania was full of beginners, a move that has been hailed by coach Migne.
"I had an interesting insight in the previous tie, a lot of players were beginners with the exception of Joash Onyango and Denis Odhiambo and they did well," enthused the Stars boss.
