Thirty-two Kenyans were among 157 people who died when Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET302 crashed six minutes after departing Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa on March 11, 2019. The Boeing 737-800 Max bound for Nairobi crashed near Bishoftu, southeast of the Ethiopian capital, according to aviation authorities.
The incident involved passengers from 35 nationalities, including 18 Canadians, nine Ethiopians, eight Americans, eight Italians, and eight Chinese nationals. Seven French and seven UK citizens were also aboard, along with 19 United Nations staff members, as reported by the UN.
The original report listed 32 Kenyan victims, including Cosmas Rogony Kiprotich. "May their souls rest in peace in Heaven," the publication stated.
