On March 11, 2019, Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET302 crashed shortly after departing from Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa, killing all 157 people on board. The Boeing 737-800, en route to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, crashed near Bishoftu, Ethiopia, just six minutes after takeoff.
The aircraft had arrived from Johannesburg, South Africa, with no reported issues before departure. Ethiopian authorities stated the pilot did not express concerns upon landing. However, two minutes into the flight, the plane experienced instability, maintaining an average altitude of 7,500 feet and a speed of 600 knots before losing contact. Despite the pilot's attempt to return to the airport, the aircraft crashed before reaching its destination.
