National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga rejected accusations of destabilizing the Jubilee coalition, asserting he has no time for what he called "silly" politics led by Deputy President William Ruto. Speaking at a March 2019 event marking the first anniversary of his historic handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta, Odinga emphasized his focus on African Union responsibilities as High Representative for Infrastructure and Development.
"I have never been in Jubilee, I don't attend their meetings so that I can bring divisions in Jubilee," Odinga stated. "If anything else I am interfering with African Union where I have some responsibilities not here."
Several Jubilee lawmakers, particularly from the Rift Valley, have accused Odinga of leveraging his alliance with Kenyatta to weaken Ruto's presidential ambitions. The former prime minister reiterated his separation from domestic political infighting, declaring, "Right now I play in the super league, I left the domestic for you."
The comments come amid ongoing tensions within the ruling coalition, with critics alleging the anti-corruption drive led by Kenyatta and Odinga is a strategic move to limit Ruto's influence. Odinga's remarks were reported by The Kenyan DAILY POST, which has operated since 2012.
