Migori-based musician Triple S has been released from prison after serving a three-year sentence for possessing counterfeit currency during a video production in 2014, according to an interview with Mambo Mseto.
The artist was arrested that year when plainclothes officers raided his Narok-based video shoot. Authorities claimed he had printed fake money to distribute after completing the project, but Triple S explained the notes were intended solely for filming and would have been destroyed afterward.
"I copied a 1,000-shilling note and produced around 200,000 pieces for the video," he said. "I planned to burn them after filming, but I didn't follow proper procedures." Police detained all crew members, though Triple S took full responsibility as the video's producer.
He was sentenced to three years in Narok Prison but was released after completing his term. The musician now seeks to reestablish himself in the music industry following his incarceration.
