Standard Chartered Bank Kenya has introduced its SC Mobile Digital Bank, investing KES 83.4 million to enable retail customers to manage financial activities through a mobile platform. The service allows account opening in under 15 minutes and provides access to transactions, savings, loans, investments, and insurance without branch visits.

The digital platform offers over 68 services, including account updates, card activation, bill payments, cheque management, fixed deposit operations, and domestic and international fund transfers. Clients can access these features via the SC mobile app available on Google Play and Apple stores.

Managing Director and CEO Kariuki Ngari emphasized the bank's focus on digital transformation, stating the solution enables customers to conduct banking seamlessly while maintaining personal commitments. "Our clients can now access banking services anytime, anywhere, without disrupting their lifestyles," he said.

Ngari highlighted the bank's commitment to technology-driven innovation, noting partnerships with local entities to enhance customer experiences. The digital initiative positions Kenya as the fifth African market, alongside Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Tanzania, and Uganda, to adopt this model.
