Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has launched a public appeal for information about a mother who abandoned her newborn shortly after birth, offering a Ksh100,000 reward for actionable leads. The infant was discovered tied with a rope and immediately transported to a medical facility for emergency care.
In a social media statement, Sonko condemned the act as inhumane and emphasized the reward: "I strongly condemn this heinous act and am offering 100,000 shillings to anyone providing information that helps identify the perpetrator." He expressed regret that the mother did not seek assistance instead of abandoning the child.
A Good Samaritan found the baby boy in Mukuru kwa Reuben and transported him to the local maternity hospital for initial treatment. The infant was later transferred to Mama Lucy Hospital, where his condition remained critical.
