Standard Chartered Bank Kenya has introduced a fully digital banking solution designed to deliver round-the-clock financial services through a mobile application. The platform, developed with an investment of Sh83.4 million, enables users to open accounts, conduct transactions, save, access credit, and obtain insurance coverage remotely.
Managing Director and CEO Kariuki Ngari emphasized the bank's commitment to digital innovation during the launch, stating, "Our clients will benefit from seamless banking experiences anytime and anywhere, supported by a consistent online interface." He highlighted that the initiative aligns with the institution's strategic objective to enhance financial operations through advanced technology.
The digital banking rollout positions Kenya as the fifth African market in Standard Chartered's network to adopt this model, following Cote D’Ivoire, Ghana, Tanzania, and Uganda. The platform expands access to financial services while reducing reliance on physical branches.
