A U.S. man has alleged he found a video tape showing R. Kelly sexually abusing underage African-American girls, which he handed to law enforcement. Gary Dennis, a nursing home worker, said he discovered the footage while sorting through old video tapes, describing it as a moral obligation to report the material.
The R&B artist faces 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving four alleged victims, three of whom were minors. R. Kelly has denied all charges, including the new allegations. His lawyer, Steve Greenberg, called the tape’s existence a "self-evident doubt" and criticized the "open season" on the singer, urging authorities to address the possession of what he called "child pornography."
Dennis claimed the tape showed R. Kelly directing the actions of the individuals depicted, though he did not provide specific details. He contacted Gloria Allred, a lawyer representing accusers, after finding the recording labeled "R. Kelly" in a box of sports event tapes. Allred noted Dennis had no prior connection to the singer, though she could not confirm the man in the video was him with 100% certainty.
R. Kelly was recently taken into custody for failing to pay $161,000 in child support but was released after settling the debt. He previously denied allegations in a televised interview, stating, "I didn’t do this stuff. This is not me."
