Standard Chartered Bank Kenya introduced SC Mobile Digital Banking in 2019, offering clients the ability to open accounts within 15 minutes through a digital interface. The platform provides 68 services, including fund transfers, loan applications, and account management, eliminating the need for in-person visits.

The digital solution, developed at a cost of KES 83 million, includes an Android app (65 MB) and iOS compatibility. It allows users to activate cards, block cheques, and conduct international transactions, with the bank emphasizing mobile lending and convenience as core priorities.

"Our clients can now bank anytime, anywhere, without interrupting their daily activities," said Mr. Kariuki Ngari, MD of Standard Chartered Bank Kenya. The platform follows implementations in Uganda, Tanzania, Ivory Coast, and Ghana, marking Kenya as its fifth African market.
