One Kenyan man has lost five family members in the Ethiopian Airlines crash near Bishoftu, Ethiopia, on March 10, 2019, which claimed 149 lives including 32 Kenyans.
Kelvin Karanja's mother, sister, and three children perished when the Boeing 737 crashed shortly after departing Bole International Airport. The victims were traveling from Canada to Kenya via Addis Ababa.
Karanja described his mother as having spent six months in Ethiopia before the trip. Family members of the deceased have gathered at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport awaiting updates.
The crash also killed 18 Canadians, 6 Egyptians, 9 Ethiopians, 7 French nationals, 8 Americans, 8 Italians, 8 Chinese, and 7 Britons, according to reports.
