Gavana wa Kakamega Wycliffe Oparanya has expressed regret over being elected as the chairperson of the Council of Governors, citing the heavy responsibilities that come with the position.
Speaking at a meeting with Kakamega County workers, Oparanya stated that he had been preoccupied with various issues and had not had enough time to attend to his duties as governor.
He took over as chairperson of the Council of Governors from Joseph Nanok, with Murang'a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria elected as his deputy.
"If I had known the magnitude of the responsibilities that come with this position, I would not have vied for it. It has taken up all my time, and I am not able to discharge my duties as governor effectively," Oparanya said.
