Barclays Kenya Posts 7% Profit Growth to Sh7.4 Billion in 2018

Barclays Kenya Group recorded a net profit of Ksh7.4 billion for the 2018 financial year, reflecting a 7% increase from the Ksh6.9 billion profit reported in 2017, according to audited results.

The bank’s improved performance followed a Ksh8.9 billion rise in outstanding loans to Ksh177.3 billion and a Ksh21.4 billion growth in customer deposits to Ksh207.4 billion compared to 2017 figures.

Chairman Charles Muchene announced the board had approved a final dividend of Ksh0.90 per ordinary share, contingent on shareholder approval. The payout, scheduled for May 29, 2019, will apply to shareholders registered by April 30, 2019, as stated in the company’s statement.
